Anyone with knowledge about a shooting that killed a man in Harvey earlier this year can get a reward from Crimestoppers. In August, Andrew Davis IV was shot and killed at an apartment building.
As of now, there is a $10,000 reward for information that can help catch Lavanta Carto, 27, the suspect in the killing.
Police in JPSO say they are looking for Carto on charges of second-degree murder, plot to commit armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, and felon in possession of a firearm.
If you know anything about the case or Carto, you can get the cash prize by calling Crimestoppers. People who want to give a private tip can call 504 822-1111, email www.Crimestoppersgno.org, or use the CSGNO app on their phone.
Crimestoppers says the prize will no longer be valid after November 6, 2026.

At this point, police are looking for clues and trying to make an arrest in the death of Andrew Davis IV, who was 21 years old.
Over the weekend, he was shot at an apartment building in Harvey. He was later discovered in the parking lot of a nearby strip mall. That’s where he passed away.
Westpark Apartments was the name of the apartment building where the shooting took place. WDSU was told by Davis’ family that his girlfriend took him to get help in the strip mall in front of the Sketchers store in the 300 block of Manhattan.
His mom, dad, and other loved family members want things to be over with.
Davis’s mother, Tamara Arnold, said, “I love my child with all my heart.” They didn’t need to take him. They might have taken me. To be honest, I’ve lived my life.”
Arnold said she is still coming to terms with the death of her son, who was a joy to be around.
“He liked making jokes a lot.” He really liked making his little TikToks. He was a kind and loving person. Arnold said, “He didn’t deserve that.”
Around 1 p.m. on Saturday, Davis stopped at Westchase Apartments to see a friend. That’s when he was shot in his car, she said. At the time, he was with his lover.
“She ran when the gunshots were fired. After that, they ran back to their car. While she drove, she sat on top of him. Arnold said, “It wasn’t Andrew.”
Arnold said that Davis’s lover left the car when she saw police.
“She said he was still breathing,” Arnold replied. She believed he would make it. He did, however, spit out blood. “And he didn’t.”
Davis had a job in health care. He was killed on his way to get his 2-year-old son.
“At least I still have my grandson.” Arnold said, “because Andrew could have gone and grabbed him first, things would have been different.”
Arnold is now praying and hoping that the people who did this will come forward.
“You all broke my heart.” If you didn’t have a mom who loved you, I’m sorry. I would have loved you all. I could have loved you all as much as I loved him. “You didn’t need to kill him,” she said.
