In Kay County District Court, Edward Jeff Rhodd Jr., 21, of Ponca City, has a plea hearing set up.
He is being charged with a felony count of having a gun after being found to be a delinquent kid and a misdemeanor count of receiving or hiding stolen property with knowledge.
Ponca City police say that on May 2, they were called to the Paladin Apartments because Rhodd was said to be in the parking lot. Those warrants said he should not be there.
Rhodd was caught by police, and he allegedly admitted having a gun on him. The police officer says he got Rhodd’s loaded Glock 45 from his underwear.
Capt. Jeff Woodward allegedly used the Department of Justice’s Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives National Tracing Center to track down the gun. He later found out that a Ponca City resident bought the gun from Big Hill Trading Company and Pawn.
The police called the gun’s owner. They say she told them she wasn’t in the state but that her son had told her three weeks before that the gun was missing from her car. She said she hadn’t filed a report because she was not in town.
Someone asked Rhodd about the gun. Police say he told them he took the gun while he was at a house party and saw it on a couch.
