A female caller informed dispatch that an unidentified man was in her backyard with a pistol at approximately 7:54 p.m. on Friday, prompting the DeSoto Police Department to send officers to “an active disturbance” in the 400 block of Raintree Circle.

The man “attempted to force his way inside the home through the rear garage door,” according to police, and the dispatcher could hear screaming and cursing during the 911 call.

Simultaneously, nearby residents reported gunshots in the neighborhood to 911.

When the police arrived three minutes after the woman’s call, they discovered her in front of her house. She informed them she believed she had shot the male “somewhere at the back of the house.”

Police entered the house and discovered Octavio Flores Mondragon, 35, lying on the ground in the garage with a revolver beside him. Two bullets had struck him, one in the face and one in the chest.

He was transported in critical condition to a nearby hospital.

According to FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth, the woman said police she saw a dark truck following her home after leaving a Taco Bell nearby. Additionally, the truck followed her into her neighborhood and parked at the back of her vehicle.

The woman hurried inside, grabbed a weapon, and dialed 911. She shot at Mondragon many times, hitting him twice when he tried to enter her house.
